The long- term drivers of returns from both developed and emerging equity markets can be assessed by a decomposition model of equity returns.

Key factors are considered including:
• dividend yield
• inflation
• change in valuation
• change in real earnings
• volatility of equity markets

The relationship between dividend growth and changes in inflation and GDP are also important.

The target audience will be financial planners, paraplanners, investment professionals, accountants and legal professionals.

The learning objectives are:

• To be able to assess sources of equity return
• To understand the relationship between dividend growth and equity return
• To evaluate the changing nature of equity market volatility
• To understand the relationship between equity markets and inflation

The learning outcomes will be for the audience to come away with a clear understanding of how equity returns can be assessed, how equity market volatility is evaluated and the relationship between equity markets and inflation.
