Family Investment Companies v Trusts

With a growing interest in Family Investment Companies as an alternative to the more traditional trust structure, Susan discusses the structural and tax characteristics of both forms of succession planning.

At the end of the session attendees will have gained an understanding of basic structure of family investments companies and discretionary trusts. In addition they will be aware of the tax considerations and key obligations on trustees, directors and shareholders.

Susan is a Partner within Hill Dickinson solicitor’s private client team. Susan's work centres on inheritance, capital gains and income tax planning for high net worth individuals and families. She discusses tax issues and succession planning, drafting wills, powers of attorney and trusts.

She advises settlors, beneficiaries and trustees on trust formation, trustees' duties and trust dissolution as well as looking at tax planning issues pre-emptively and liaising with independent financial advisors regarding general investment of funds.
