WEBINAR - Management Liability - Session 2 – Underwriting and Policy Cover

Overview

This workshop is the second in a series of three, with each session designed to stand alone.

Session 2 provides guidance as to those risk factors that influence the underwriter in the assessment of a management liability risk. It also provides an overview of the cover and exclusions of the policy.

Who should attend?

Delegates upon completion will be able to; 

• List and explain the relevance of rating factors that would be featured in any fair presentation to underwriters
• Describe how cover is provided on a civil liability basis and familiarise themselves with the exclusion
• Understand the relevance and suitability for certain industries of commonly available extensions to cover as well as entity coverage

Course Content

• How the way in which a firm is incorporated can affect the perception of risk
• Financial considerations
• Other rating factors
• Explanation of civil liability cover and the main exclusions
• Precis of cover provided by some policy extensions including some potential “buy backs”
• Where cover is provided for legal costs incurred in defence of criminal actions against directors or the business

This course is delivered on a lunch and learn format with the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session. 

David is an experienced insurance professional with a career spanning 40 years. He is a subject matter expert for the Chartered Insurance Institute, authoring and updating modules for the CII computer-based training programme, Broker Assess. His experience includes Head of Claims at Plum Underwriting Ltd, where he was responsible for managing the relationship between insurers and claims third party administrators, managing larger claims received via technical referral processes.

David has been delivering technical insurance training for over 20 years, to a variety of different industry customers in the UK and abroad and provides examination support for clients undertaking CII studies to achieve industry recognised designations. He provides training on many general insurance classes up to at least intermediate level to include motor trade insurance, cyber, marine cargo, commercial property, business interruption, liabilities, construction, engineering, and trade credit. He also delivers more generic underwriting and claims training.
