Session 1 - Meet the Regulator

Lisa Sturley (Head of Department, Market Interventions, Insurance), Financial Conduct Authority

Lisa is the Head of Market Intervention, Insurance, at the FCA where she manages a department supervising retail and wholesale general insurance providers and intermediaries, life insurers and funeral plan providers.

Lisa has in excess of 30 years of financial services experience gained in corporate trustee, custody, investment banking and regulation, including roles at RBS and Credit Suisse. Lisa has worked with the regulator for many years moving from IMRO to the FSA and then the FCA. Most of her roles have been in supervision, supervising investment management firms, deposit takers and insurance firms. Lisa was one of the founding members of the CASS department and shaped the rules and supervision approach.

With many years’ experience in regulation Lisa has worked on a number of high-profile enforcement cases, managed a large number of s.166 and attestations.

Lisa has recently worked on the supervision approach for funeral plan regulation, implementation of the general insurance pricing practice rules and the regulatory response to Gloster and Parker reviews.
