• Use techniques to settle people’s minds in the early stages of your meeting

Ask powerful questions which can help to demonstrate your value

• Listen to understand, not simply respond

• Apply the seven rules of readability
• Avoid common pitfalls which lead to writing being ignored

Melissa is the Director of Motem Ltd. She specialises in helping Financial planning Firms

to win and keep clients through great communication. Trained by the Plain English

Campaign, she has a background in psychology and coaching and has worked alongside

the Financial services sector for over 10 years. She’s regularly asked to speak at

conferences and events for the PFS, CISI and CII on the subject of communication.
