
MHIB Compassionate Connections: Supporting Others Through Mental Health Challenges

This one-hour webinar designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to support individuals facing mental health challenges. This session emphasises the importance of empathy, active listening, and self-care in the process of helping others.
Throughout the webinar, attendees will learn practical strategies for providing emotional support, recognising signs of distress, and guiding others towards professional help when necessary. The session will also address the potential impact of supporting others on one's own mental wellbeing, highlighting the importance of maintaining personal boundaries and practicing self-care.
Jay Unwin - Training & Development Director
Jay brings over a decade of multidisciplinary experience across education, fitness, and psychology. With an MSc in Psychology and a BSc (Hons) in Biology, Jay is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, as well as an associate member of both the International Stress Management Association and the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. Jay’s career includes roles as a science teacher, functional fitness coach, and gym owner, providing a unique perspective on the intersection of physical and mental wellbeing.
Having personally navigated burnout, cancer, depression, and fibromyalgia, Jay is deeply committed to driving cultural change and empowering individuals and organisations with practical tools to thrive at work and in life. Jay’s lived experience, combined with professional expertise, fuels a mission to create healthier, more resilient communities.
