Overview

Business Interruption Insurance (BI)is viewed by many insurance professionals as a complex class of business fraught with difficulties.

Wide area damage and concurrent independent causes of a loss is a case in question and whilst it might not crop up often, the consequences can be profound.

In this talk, Alan Hornby explores wide area damage using the case of Orient Express Hotels Ltd v Assicurazioni Generali SpA as the basis of understanding the operation of BI insurance and raising awareness of the pitfalls that can catch you out and possible solutions that exist.

Speaker

Alan Hornby is Insurance Training Manager at rradar Ltd and a Chartered Insurance Practitioner. He has over 35 years experience in the insurance broking profession in a variety of roles from account handler through to Compliance Manager.

For the past 8 years he has been delivering insurance training to insurers and brokers throughout the UK on a wide range of technical insurance subjects.
