Financial Planning Week - 2019

We need your help

As you know, we have a fantastic programme of events here at the Sheffield Institute across both Insurance and Financial Planning; with joint events like ‘Meeting the Industry’ at Hallam University (attracting c160 students) and our ever growing CPD programme. We plan to continue these events through 2019 and beyond but with one notable addition.

During my speech at the 2019 Annual Dinner, I announced the ambition to run a ‘Financial Planning Week’ (a working title). The aim is to engage the public in a pro bono event in which, through covering the basics of personal finance, we can showcase the difference Financial Planning makes to people’s lives and help build trust in our profession.

The plan is to hold the event in October 2019, with a centre in each of the major towns and cities within our region:
• Sheffield
• Rotherham
• Doncaster
• Barnsley
• Chesterfield
In each centre we will deliver the same content with a different subject each evening; covering the basics of personal finance and budgeting. The programme will cover both GI and PFS content.

To deliver this event will be a monumental challenge and one that the Sheffield Council (as a group of volunteers) cannot achieve without the support of our network - You. We require your support in the following areas:
• Building and delivering the content
• Marketing
• Logistics
• And I’m sure many other areas that I haven’t thought of

We’re happy for the supporting firms to have company banners and business cards present at the events should the attendees want to contact you afterwards, however, I should be clear, this is not a sales event.

We’re looking to get the ball rolling with the first planning session in January. Therefore, if you would like to get involved and support the event, in any form, please contact me at sheffieldinstitute@cii.co.uk.
