An introduction to the insurance industry

This three hour webinar (with a break in the middle) will be ideal for staff who are new or fairly new to the insurance industry, for those studying IF1 or for those who just want to get a better understanding of the main principles that underpin our industry.

The webinar will be presented by Alan Chandler, one of the most popular speakers in the UK. Alan will, in his usual plain English style, go through what risks are covered by insurance and what risks are not. He will then explain the structure of the UK insurance industry including exploring the roles of brokers, underwriters and claims staff. The six main legal principles of insurance will them be covered which are insurable interest, duty not to misrepresent/fair presentation of risk, proximate cause, indemnity, subrogation and contribution. The presentation will end up by covering the role of regulation within insurance.
