Out of Vnuk - the implications of the Vnuk decision by David Holt, Weightmans

This presentation will provide an overview of the aims of the various European Motor Insurance Directives and the landmark case of Damijan Vnuk v Zararovalnica Triglar dd [2014]. It will then move on to cover UK law and relevant UK case-law with suggested amendments to the current UK law.

At the end of this event, the delegate will be able to identify:

  • the framework of the Motor Insurance Directives
  • what Vnuk says and what this means for the UK, particularly for insurers and MIB
  • future options and how best to address the Vnuk decision

Speaker profile

David Holt is Head of Weightmans’ large loss and technical claims team. He specialises in catastrophic injury claims and in MIB claims. He is lead strategic legal advisor to the MIB and has been involved in the negotiation between the MIB and the government over the Uninsured and Untraced Agreements.
