The Annual Rugby Match

The annual rugby match between The Edinburgh Institute and the Irish Institutes (Belfast and Dublin) takes place on the Friday prior to the home nations match between Scotland and Ireland.

The teams take turns to host and compete for The Robertson Trophy, currently held by the Irish. We take great pride in the fact that this fixture is the longest running rugby international outside of the six nations with the 94th match taking in place in Edinburgh in 2027. 

Not surprisingly many long-standing friendships have been formed both within and across the 3 Institutes leading to a thriving section for non-players.
