Session Overview:

The aim of this session is to educate you on Business Property Relief and allow you to identify solutions for your clients that harbour an IHT liability.

We will explore a range of different client planning scenarios and explain how Business Property Relief could benefits these types of clients.

  • Recap on Business Property Relief and run through the majority of scenarios that your clients might be experiencing
  • Clients who want to retain access
  • Clients who have a POA in place
  • Clients who want an IHT free ISA
  • Clients who inherit their spouse’s ISA
  • Clients who have sold a business
  • Clients who want to settle into trust and also have an existing trust
  • Clients who want to benefit from RNRB

Martin has worked in Intermediary Distribution for 34 years and has worked for a few different providers including Eagle Star, Zurich, London and Colonial and Octopus. Nearly 18 years was spent in senior roles including Head of Intermediary Sales at Zurich taking the new platform to market and also Head of Sales at London and Colonial growing their distribution in the UK and offshore.

For the last 7 years he has worked at Octopus Investments as the Business Development Manager for the South West working with advisers and other professional connections to help them integrate tax planning into their advice proposition.

Martin is married with two grown up children, two cats and a Cockerpoo called Minnie dog and lives just South of Bristol. He spends his spare time going to the gym, playing golf, travelling, sometimes supporter of Bristol City and likes most sport.
