CPD Webinar: Neuroscience of Resilience for Insurance Professionals

Overview
Today's insurance professionals operate in an environment of continual uncertainty, complex customer expectations and rapid technological change. Market volatility, difficult conversations, hybrid working and AI are creating new pressures that demand more than technical expertise—they require resilience.
This practical webinar explores resilience through the lens of neuroscience, helping participants understand how the brain responds to stress, uncertainty and conflict. Using practical examples from the insurance profession, Tom Flatau will introduce frameworks and techniques that can be applied immediately to remain calm under pressure, communicate more effectively, recover more quickly from difficult situations and adapt confidently to change.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the BANI framework (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear and Incomprehensible) and recognise why uncertainty and volatility are characteristics of today's environment—not a personal failing.
- Recognise how the brain responds to stress, fear and perceived threats, and distinguish between helpful and harmful stress to improve resilience under pressure.
- Apply the Communication Paradox by learning how to be both frank and diplomatic when handling difficult conversations, conflict and emotionally charged customer interactions.
- Use the STOP framework to interrupt automatic reactions, regulate emotions and make more considered decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Develop a resilient mindset by learning from setbacks, reducing self-criticism and avoiding perfectionism to build long-term resilience and adaptability.
