Ana Gomes-Freire

Q. How long have you been in the insurance/personal finance profession?

A. Almost 5 years

Q. What is your favourite thing about your job/the profession?

A. Insurance is a great industry and at times it is very underrated. What I love about it is that there is a whole spectrum of roles within the industry and career paths to explore. This is great for those of us that desire to keep our careers progressing. I also love how the industry continuously evolves in keeping with the world of today.

Q. How long have you been involved with your local institute?

A. This is my second year on council as the Inclusion, Diversity and Equality Officer. Second of many.

Q. What is the best thing about volunteering on your local institute?

A. I like to think more often than not we are the sprinkles on that insurance cake. The support we give the members through the training and webinar sessions, the social events that we put on for professionals to come together, the noise we make about issues that concern our members in the hopes to create change within the industry, the charitable causes we support. All that can go unnoticed but when you experience it you’ll surely be amazed.

Q. What would you say to anyone considering joining their local institute?

A. Do it! Not only you’ll be part of something bigger than your day job. You’ll meet many wonderful individuals, learn so much about the industry and positively impact the experience of members of the CII Leicester.

Q. What do you do for fun?

A. Apart from Professional Indemnity insurance (which absolutely fascinates me). I enjoy all things mindfulness, practising yoga, being outdoors. I also love reading and collecting books, which is my healthy addiction. As well as content creating, on empowerment, mindfulness and wellness via social media.

Q. If you were trapped on a desert island what 3 things would you take with you?

A.

  1. Journal – makes taking to oneself less weird

  2. Survival kit – For obvious reasons

  3. Family photo album – because they are my WHY and the last memory I’d like to have.
