Our History

Our history is the makeup of the Institute. There have been many events worthy of trophies and shields, with books written about the people and topics of their time, along with regalia and certificates to celebrate success and photographs to document some of the changes as time goes by. Further below are images of some of the memorabilia, that will now find their new home in the CII storage facility where it will be preserved (November 2018).

These include:

  • previously awarded cups and awards for excellence in examinations and competitions organised by the institute
  • insurance books some of which were written by local members
  • a print of a painting of Queen Elizabeth II, patron of the Chartered Insurance Institute during her reign

In 2023 we celebrated 150 years of the Insurance Institute of Manchester with a special conference and dinner. You can view a copy of the special Journal we printed and see the poem we commissioned by Mike Garry on the event page: https://www.localinstitutes.cii.co.uk/manchester/home/events/2023/150-event/iim-150th-anniversary-conference/
