President's Message

Dear Members,
First of all, thank you to each and every one of you for your support over the past twelve months. I have truly enjoyed the past year, and I feel that twelve months is simply not enough time to realise the full potential of the role. For that reason, I was keen to seek the opportunity to serve a further term as President.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks to all Council Members. Our Local Institute would not be what it is today without your dedication and commitment. You have supported me throughout the year and given so generously of your time and energy to the Insurance Institute of Norwich. I am genuinely grateful for everything you do in support of our members and shared goals. It was also a pleasure to chair my first AGM in April, where we welcomed new members to Council while also saying a heartfelt thank you to Bob Walne and Nathanial Ellert, who stepped down this year. I extend my sincere thanks to them for their valuable contributions and commitment over the past twelve months.
Over the coming year, I am keen to build on the strong engagement we have achieved. It is vital that we continue to raise our profile, helping people understand who the CII and the Insurance Institute of Norwich are, and the value we offer. One of the highlights of the past year for me, particularly when visiting offices and meeting apprentices and those studying towards qualifications, has been seeing the incredible new talent entering our industry. Supporting young professionals is something I feel strongly about, and I am committed to ensuring we continue to nurture and develop this talent. At the same time, it is equally important that we support members at every stage of their careers. While I may no longer qualify for the Young Professionals Group myself, I understand first‑hand that studying later in your career brings its own challenges, and I want to ensure everyone feels supported throughout their professional journey.
My chosen charity for this year is Feed Norwich, whose mission is “through the power of food, to empower communities in Norwich, ensuring each and every person has the support to eat well, live well, and feel connected.” There are many ways we can support this fantastic charity, and I will be sharing further information in due course. This year, it is not just about fundraising, but also about raising awareness. Feed Norwich is there for anyone who may be going through a difficult time, and their services are not means‑tested. Sometimes people simply need a little extra support, and it is important they know help is available.
Thank you once again for your continued support. I look forward to working with you all in the year ahead.
