Welcome to the Insurance Institute of Norwich.
I am absolutely thrilled to be taking the Presidential ‘baton’ from April Stowers to continue her amazing work which has she put in over the past year, and I hope that I can continue to build on both April and Insurance Institute of Norwich Council’s hard work.
I have worked in the insurance industry for more than 30 years, all of which have been in claims and loss adjusting. I have a true passion for developing talent and supporting others to develop and cultivate their careers. Throughout my career, one of the most fulfilling experiences is that I have helped to develop young talent and make a difference. This can come in many forms, from helping a friend in need, volunteering in our community, or even inspiring someone to pursue their dreams. The impact we have on others can be profound, and it all starts with investing in ourselves and others.
As a Local Insurance Institute, we believe that investing in our members is the key to success and we are committed to providing our members with the tools and resources they need. As we invest in people and help them reach their potential, we also create a ripple effect that extends beyond the individual. They in turn may inspire others and make a difference creating a chain reaction. Ultimately, developing talent and investing in people is about recognising that we all have something unique to offer. We start by recognising strengths and areas of interest, we can then provide opportunities to develop their skills, whether it’s through mentorship, training programs, or educational resources.
Our volunteers bring a wealth of talent and knowledge to the Council, whilst giving back to our community through charitable initiatives like Nelson’s Journey. This year we are proud to be supporting The Big C, a charity which is very close to my heart, with 1 in 2 people developing some kind of cancer, it sadly touches many lives. You can find out more about The Big C on what they offer and how you can help here https://www.big-c.co.uk/about-us/.
As always, the highlight of the year is our Annual Dinner, this year it will be held on 10th November at The Assembly House in the centre of Norwich. This brings a great opportunity to relax and network with our members and guests, something which we are continuing to get used to post-pandemic. Hybrid working has made it more difficult to network with many people working from home, however, this year, we will be working on bringing some face-to-face events, so please keep an eye on our Events page for upcoming sessions.
To this end, I am thrilled and excited to head up the team of volunteers of the Insurance Institute of Norwich, and I look forward to meeting many more of our members throughout the coming year.
