Data, Data, Everywhere!

The physical laws that govern how accidents happen are unchanging and to that extent, the business of forensic investigation is not subject to trends. However, the amount of information available in any given incident is rising at a phenomenal rate. As it does so, the difficulty of obtaining that information keeps pace. The challenges facing forensic investigators and their clients in the coming decade will centre as much on the physical and regulatory difficulties of obtaining information as it will on the technical expertise needed to interpret that information. In this presentation, Dr Moncrieff lean heavily on Hollywood to explore a selection of areas in which the business of data collection has changed or is due to change dramatically in the coming years.
