ELECTRICAL FAILURES AND CAUSES OF FIRE

Fires are often attributed to electrical faults but the evidence that remains after a fire can sometimes be explained as a consequence of a fire rather than as positive evidence of the cause. This presentation will include an explanation of common types of electrical defects and will use real case examples to demonstrate how an investigator can determine whether a fire resulted from an electrical source and determine the mechanism of ignition. The presentation will include fire cases associated with developing technologies, such as photo-voltaic (PV) systems and lithium-ion batteries.
Perth and Dundee Chartered Insurance Institute are delighted to invite you to the Clyde & Almond Conference Rooms at the Aviva offices in Pitheavlis, Perth at 12.30pm for a light lunch in readiness for the talk at 1pm.
