Caruth family opens new CII Member’s Lounge
20 April 2026
On Friday 17 April the family of Brian Caruth visited the new Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) offices on Old Broad Street in London to mark the official opening of the Caruth Lounge, a space designated for CII Members to use as required.

Liz Caruth and family were joined by Callum Beaton, President, CII Group; Alex Clegg, Vice President, CII Local Institutes; Fiona Cambridge, President, Insurance Institute of Northern Ireland; and Les Gillanders, Vice President, Insurance Institute of Northern Ireland.

The new Member’s Lounge is named in tribute to Brian Caruth, who served as a Council Member at the Insurance Institute of Northern Ireland for over 30 years, and as President in 2018-19. He also served as the Chartered Insurance Institute's Vice President for Local Institutes from October 2023 to the end of 2025.

Callum Beaton, CII Group President, said: We were delighted that so many members of the Caruth Family were able to join us on Friday, as there can be no finer tribute than to name our members’ area the Caruth Lounge: a lasting tribute to the infectious enthusiasm that Brian brought to everything, immediately allowing him to engage with members in all areas of our profession.”

CII Members are able to access and utilise the Caruth Lounge from today (Monday 20 April).
