About the session:

This webinar looks to provide an overview of the history of regulation within the insurance industry, who are the main regulators, how do they regulate and why regulation is so essential.

The presentation will examine the principle-based approach to regulation put in place by the UK regulators and how this differs from the rules-based regulation in many other countries. It will also look at the main aspects of regulation including fair treatment of customers, ICOBS, training and competence requirements and solvency

All staff need to have an overview of how regulation applies to the insurance industry within which they work, and this presentation will provide the overview.

Learning Objectives:
Following the presentation delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the history of regulation within the UK and why it is so essential.
  • Understand the concept of principle-based approach to regulation.
  • Understand fair treatment of customers, ICOBS, Training and competence requirements and solvency margins.

About the speaker:

The Course will be run by Alan Chandler.

Alan has been an operations and project manager in three large global companies. NatWest insurance services, Royal Bank of Scotland insurance group and Allianz. In the last ten years running his own training company he has taken more than 1.000 people to ACII including six people who have achieved the top ACII pass rate in the whole of the UK.
