Overview of Civil Litigation Presented by Maria Charley & Becky Lea from DAC Beachcroft
The Insurance Institute of Cardiff is delighted to welcome CII members to attend a breakfast seminar where the topic will be "An overview of Civil Litigation". DAC Beachcroft will provide a whistle stop tour of the litigation process from issue of proceedings to trial, whilst also looking briefly looking at the CPR, Limitation and Costs. In addition, they will also advise how to assess prospects of success and the merits of litigating vs. settlement. About the presenters Maria has eight years' litigation experience working at DAC Beachcroft in Newport as a personal injury practitioner, dealing with high value, complex personal injury claims for a number of leading Insurers. Maria has recently retrained, since qualifying as a solicitor, in the field of professional indemnity. She focuses primarily on defending claims against solicitors. Becky is a solicitor in the Professional Risk Team in Bristol and has experience in defending claims against a variety of professionals including surveyors, accountants, property management agents, solicitors and financial advisers. Becky previously worked as an in-house solicitor where she dealt with professional negligence claims against financial advisers as well as handling general commercial disputes.
