President's Message

I am delighted to have been re‑elected as President of the Insurance Institute of Jersey for the 2026/27 term.
 
The Institute Council is a dedicated group of insurance professionals who voluntarily give their time to deliver meaningful value to CII members across the Island.

What We Offer Our Members

We provide a wide range of benefits designed to support professional development, connection, and wellbeing, including:

• Technical and regulatory seminars, webinars, and training
• Career guidance, mentoring, and knowledge services
• Social and networking events
• Community engagement initiatives
• Local industry news and updates

 

My Key Objectives

My objectives remain consistent with my first and second terms:

1. Increase Face‑to‑Face Engagement
   Whether through CPD events or sports and social activities, my goal is to restore attendance and engagement levels to where they were before Covid.
2. Work Collaboratively
   Collaboration with our neighbouring institute in Guernsey has been highly successful, particularly for educational events.
   We are also exploring the reintroduction of our Annual Sports Event, which would be the first since Covid.
   In addition, we continue to work with other Southern regions to deliver joint CPD events and aim to broaden this collaboration with wider regions and PFS committees—sharing knowledge, experience, and best practice.
3. Engage Members Under 35
   Our younger members represent the future of the insurance industry. We are focused on ensuring they gain maximum value from their membership so they remain engaged and committed to the profession.
   Our ambition is to appoint a dedicated Next Gen Representative who will:
   Act as a spokesperson for this age group
   Help shape relevant CPD and social events
   Identify topics of interest such as mortgages, savings, and financial literacy

Progress So Far

I am pleased with the progress already made:

• Face‑to‑face CPD events are firmly back, with three events delivered since the last AGM and many more scheduled over the next 12 months.
• The South West & Southern Collaboration Hub continues to grow in strength and impact.
• We successfully launched the joint Channel Islands Next Gen initiative – CI Next Wave before the end of my second term. I look forward to seeing this progress further under the leadership of our Co‑Chairs in Jersey and Guernsey over the coming year.

Supporting Our Community

Each year, the Insurance Institute supports a local charity. As a Mental Health First Aider, I am proud that we will continue to support Mind Jersey throughout my presidency.
 
Mind Jersey is an independent local charity providing support to people experiencing mental illness. Their vision is a society that promotes and protects good mental health for all, treating everyone with fairness, positivity, and respect.

We are always keen to explore new ways to support their important work.
