Football Tournament 2022 - What a result!
It was a very cold, very wet afternoon, the worst day we have had in weeks. That didn’t stop 100% turnout for the tournament of the year as the brave teams battled for the ultimate title of 2022 champions in the Manchester CII tournament.
It was the first tournament back since a forced break during covid and it didn’t disappoint, there were some new entrants who we haven’t seen in recent years at the tournament and as the teams prepared you could feel the tension in the air as each team tried to scope out the other teams in their group.
There were twists and turns throughout with the eventual winners only coming 3rd in their Group and just scraping through to the knock out stages. CNA won 4 of 4 games in the Group A stages and looked strong winning their quarter final 5 -1. Only to be beaten by Esure the dark horse runners up from Group B who went on to the final. Meanwhile Protector who also looked strong, winning the trickier Group B, then their Quarter final match vs RSA 6-0! Were also knocked out in the semi’s in a surprise victory by Fenkel Topping who came 3rd in Group B.
The final was set, Esure vs Frenkel Topping, Frenkel with their company branded kits had clearly been here before and though it was a hard fought game, when it counted they smashed in 4 against 2 from a very accomplished Esure team.
A great day for ducks, a great day for football!
