This 45 minute session will provide a brief understanding of the basic principles of safeguarding, and will look at how changes in society and law have led us to where we are now. It will also provide food for thought regarding where the future risks may lie.

Speaker’s biography
Marie brings a unique perspective to insurance risk management. Her career in safeguarding started by serving 10 years as a Police Officer for Hampshire Constabulary where she specialised in safeguarding within the public protection department. Marie was responsible for identifying, assessing, managing and reducing the risk of harm to the vulnerable. Marie then moved into the realms of local authority, where she worked as a Safeguarding Adults Manager for one of the largest London boroughs. Here, she was responsible for coordinating safeguarding investigations and ensuring appropriate risk management plans were in place.
