Presidents Chosen Charity

This year the institute is raising awareness and funds for the We Love Manchester charity. The charity gives heart, hope and opportunity to the people of Manchester, when they need it most. They provide direct support to address the challenges of children living in poverty and growing up with few qualifications, by spreading opportunities and helping communities to build themselves up.

The Rising Stars Fund has supported young Mancunians including Maria, a teenager living at a homeless hostel in Whalley Range whilst studying full time. Maria took on parttime work to support her studies. Thanks to a grant from the charity, Maria was able to buy a laptop to assist her studies and went on to Leeds University. Maria is now studying midwifery.
