Get to Know Your Council - April Release

Name: Hazel Bowen

Occupation/Industry Experience:

Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society

How long have you been on the Insurance Institute of Norwich’s Council?

Since 2016

What is your role, and what does it involve?

I joined originally as a council member without designated responsibilities, but in 2017 I took on the role of Chair of the Norfolk Personal Finance Society, which I continue to hold, and therefore my position on the IIN committee is to represent the Norfolk PFS members.

I have sat on the education sub-committee since 2018, which is something I really enjoy as it gives me the opportunity to influence the educational programme for our local members.

Why did you decide to join the Council?

I joined the committee to to develop new skills and meet other professionals outside of my organisation – it has been a great experience.

What are you most looking forward in the forthcoming year on the Council?

The highlight of the year is usually our annual charity dinner. This is a great opportunity to meet with peers across the insurance and financial services professions and celebrate the excellent work we do. Unfortunately, the current climate makes the year ahead look uncertain; however, I am looking forward to working with the rest of the committee to overcome the challenges we may face and support our members.

Tell us one unusual fact about yourself:

When I was a young girl, I sang as part of the Norwich Cathedral Girls’ Choir at the Queen Mothers’ 100th Birthday Parade at Buckingham Palace – it was an amazing experience!
