Get to Know Your Council - May Release

Name: Kris Locker

Occupation/Industry Experience:

I have worked in the insurance industry for 19 years, the last 10 of these in Loss Adjusting as a relationship manager.

How long have you been on the Insurance Institute of Norwich’s Council?

I joined the Insurance Institute of Norwich Council in 2023 following my move to Norfolk. Previously I was on the Insurance Institute of Bolton Council within the sports and social team.

What is your role, and what does it involve?

I have been appointed as the Social Secretary with responsibilities of organising social events for our Members

Why did you decide to join the Council?

As I have worked in the insurance industry for 19 years I wanted to improve my knowledge and understanding of the local insurance market. I also found it was a great opportunity to meet new people with all kinds of experience and knowledge.

What are you most looking forward to in the forthcoming year on the Council?

Following the last 3 years where COVID has changed our way of living I am looking forward to having face to face meetings again as well as the annual dinner in November.

Tell us one unusual fact about yourself

I am a firm believer of facing your fears, I have done this in the past by curing my fear of heights and flying by completing a tandem sky dive and also my fear of spiders as I completed a 10 day survival in a Thailand jungle for charity. This involved me sleeping in the open with all kinds of nature and visiting different orphanages taking supplies to them.
