Reducing the costs of IPT for your business – webinar

Free IPT webinar – RSM UK

  • No party in an insurance transaction is immune from IPT cost: tight margins and other commercial pressures generally dictate that at least some of the IPT cost cannot be passed to the insured.
  • As a result, even if the broker is not expressly required by the broker agreement to cover this cost, their commission percentage will (often unbeknown to the broker) have been calculated to ensure that it does not impact on the net premium amount received by the underwriter. If there’s no broker in the “chain”, the underwriter may well have to bear at least part of the cost.
  • With the IPT rate now at 12% (and with further increases likely), with HMRC levying significant penalties and interest when errors occur, and with brokers as well as underwriters potentially being “on the hook” for such errors, it is more important than ever for brokers and underwriters to ensure that IPT risk and IPT cost are minimised.
  • As well as elaborating on these points, this webinar will talk about how IPT cost can be reduced, and also IPT claims which may currently be available.

Justine McInnes and John Forth of RSM UK will be delivering this webinar.

Justine is a Solicitor and Chartered Tax Adviser and specialises in Indirect Tax – with particular expertise in advising on VAT and IPT in the insurance sector. John is a Chartered Tax Adviser who specialises in Indirect Tax – particularly for Financial Services clients.

As the NII’s current Deputy President and Education Secretary, I am very happy to endorse this event and strongly encourage you to attend.
