Did you know that your team of local institute volunteers also volunteer on PFS commitee locally? Check out this good news story here: https://www.thepfs.org/membership/pfs-local-committees/plymouth-and-cornwall/bringing-members-together-across-plymouth-cornwall/

President's Message

Venetia Hallam

Welcome to The Insurance Institute of Plymouth and Cornwall, we are here for both our CII and our PFS members, about 950 of us split almost equally between the two.

Last year, in the absence of a PFS Regional Committee, we stepped forward to make sure our local PFS membership (including me) didn’t miss out on Regional Funding from the PFS. Good to know that we are now fully utilising it to fund CPD, Social and Revision Sessions. We already do this successfully for both CII and PFS members as an Institute, so even better use of our resources.

Being on the Council (which is a volunteer role) can be fun and a good learning experience for all of us. It can be hard work at times but the effort is rewarded in seeing the benefit of what we achieve for our members.  Please talk to me or anyone else on Council if you would like to come along and experience a meeting.

Our Summer Firework event (this year 13th August), where we hire the biggest boat on the Sound and then watch the National Fireworks Competition, is a sellout event, so keep a look out for when tickets are available. You have to be a member, but you can bring friends and family with you. Neema, my youngest daughter aged 7 has been coming since before she was born!
