Compassion Fatigue: the silent but very serious risk to people working in insurance and fi

This interesting and difficult subject is delivered by Jeff Heasman exploring the unique pressure to remain compassionate in the high workload of the insurance and financial sector. An interesting subject often overlooked in the modern era of high expectations in terms of customer outcomes.
In insurance and financial services, we are so often called upon to demonstrate high levels of compassion in a whole range of different scenarios. If not dealt with properly, this can lead to fatigue that is bad for our mental and physical health and which in turn begins to significantly impact our performance and at worst lead to burnout. Second hand trauma can also occur as the result of dealing with clients in life-changing situations or through exposure to certain documents and evidence, such as photos and videos.
In this session, we will examine how compassion fatigue can manifest itself and then learn a strategy to ensure that we and our colleagues do not become a victim to this silent, but very serious, risk to our health.
