We welcome all members & guests to attend a lunchtime seminar which will be presented by Oliver Willis of BDB Pitmans LLP.

Overview

In this lecture, Oliver will outline how data protection issues can affect relationships between different actors in the insurance industry, and how the impact can be managed. He will draw on practical examples from the last 18 months, as well as the latest guidance from the regulator. The lecture will include a look at how Brexit could affect transfers of personal data.

At the end of this lecture, delegates will be able to:

  • Spot common data protection issues in relationships between insurers, intermediaries, and professional advisors;
  • Analyse data protection roles and responsibilities in a variety of practical scenarios;
  • Understand key compliance steps when transferring personal data;
  • Understand the likely impact of Brexit on data transfers between the UK and the rest of the world.

About the speaker

Oliver Willis is a Senior Associate a BDB Pitmans, advising on data protection and commercial contracts. Much of his work focusses on complex data transfers, technology procurement, and outsourcing.
