The Insurance Institute of Sussex invites members and their guests to our next seminar on Wednesday 1 February 2017 at Clair Hall, Haywards Heath. At this event, Miranda Martin (Partner) and Amy White (Solicitor) from Rix & Kay Solicitors will be helping to clarify the legal minefield of whether someone is genuinely self-employed or, in reality, an employee.

Miranda and Amy will also consider the status of others, such as volunteers and unpaid staff.

Online Booking
If you would like to join us at this seminar, please register using our online booking system by clicking on the BOOK NOW button below.

Light refreshments (tea/coffee/juice and biscuits) will be available from 5.30pm onwards and the seminar will start promptly at 6.00pm.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this seminar, delegates will be able to identify:

  • how employment tribunals decide whether someone is an employee or genuinely self-employed - and to apply the rules
  • how to recognise and treat atypical workers
  • that the position is not always as clear cut and that HMRC may take a different view
  • how to recognise problems and how to deal with them in a practical fashion
