The Insurance Institute of Sussex is continuing its occasional series of technical general insurance seminars over the coming months as Tony Gregory looks at the specialist, but essential cover provided by Directors' & Officers' Liability Insurance.

This second seminar will be of particular interest to anyone who has knowledge of Directors’ and Officers’ Liability business and wishes to enhance that knowledge.

During this free, one hour seminar, Tony will look at

  • the rule in Foss v Harbottle

  • derivative actions

  • reflective and non-reflective losses

  • directors' fiduciary duties

  • liability to third parties

  • different types of claim (including some spectacular ones!)

Learning Objectives
By the end of the seminar, delegates will:

  • understand how directors and officers may incur liabilities including derivative actions, fiduciary duties and liability to third parties

  • understand how to assess the risks for broking and underwriting purposes

  • be aware of the types of claim that arise

  • be aware of regulatory developments and other recent developments

If travelling by car, the nearest car park is in Cyprus Road at the back of the Town Council Offices building on Crescent Way. Please note that Pay & Display charges apply until 6.00pm, but parking is free after this.

Burgess Hill train station is about 7 minutes' walk from the venue.

About our speaker
Tony Gregory is Managing Director of Insurance Market Conferences (IMC). He had many years’ experience in the London Market underwriting Liability and Professional Indemnity business, before establishing IMC.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and a Vice-President of the Insurance Institute of London. He holds the Registered Professional Liability Underwriter designation of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (US).

Tony has a Postgraduate Diploma in Laws from the University of London. He was the leader of the Insurance Institute of London’s Research Groups on Professional Indemnity Insurance (First Edition) and of Liability and Accident Compensation and was a founder member of the Liability Underwriters Group.

He lectures and provides training in a range of insurance topics in the London market and worldwide and for academic institutions including the University of Swansea, the University of Bath and Florida State University.
