Our annual Croquet Tournament is back this year following an enforced break and takes place on Tuesday 28 June 2022. As usual, the event will take place at, and be hosted by, the Sussex County Croquet Club (SCCC).
During an evening of light-hearted recreational croquet, pairs of players will challenge for the Centenary Trophy as they try to master this seemingly gentle sport!
Don't worry if you have never played before - no experience is necessary, as expert coaching will be provided by SCCC on the night.
The fun starts at 5.45 for 6.00pm and costs £12.00 per person (which is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled). This includes the traditional and ever popular SCCC Ploughman's that will round the evening off rather nicely once it is too dark (or too cold) to keep playing.
This event is open to all members who may each bring one guest with them if they wish. To reserve your place(s), please use our online booking system by clicking on the Book Now button below.
Please note that you will need to enter your PIN as part of the booking process, so please make sure that this is to hand.
Hot and cold drinks can be purchased from the bar throughout the evening.
Please make sure you wear flat-soled shoes or trainers to avoid damaging the lawns. You are also advised to bring a jumper or similar as it can turn quite cold once the sun has gone down!
Croquet is played in most weather conditions, so we would suggest bringing waterproofs if it looks like it may rain on the day!
Whilst open to all members, please note that due to steps leading into the building and between lawns, this event may not be suitable for the infirm or anyone in a wheel chair. Please contact us if you require further information about this.
By car - there is ample free parking at the site. If following your Satnav, please do not use the Club's postcode as your destination as you will end up at the (locked) back door! Instead set the address as Kingston Lane or enter the postcode for Shoreham College - BN43 6YW (which is immediately opposite the Club) and ignore the final few directions onto the campus.
By train - the Club is about 15 minutes' walk from Southwick rail station.
By bus - Stagecoach route 700 (between Brighton and Worthing area) stops on the coast road near the bottom of Kingston Lane. This is about 5 minutes' walk from the Club.
