Managing Change - 5 March 2019 1.30pm -3.30pm
Change is becoming a regular part of our every day working. The fear of uncertainty that used to accompany organisational change is now being taken over by the dangers associated with staying the same. This means that we must manage the external and internal influencers of change and proactively look for change as a way of constantly moving forward. The session starts by considering the drivers of change and the types of change that we face. We then consider the role that we play in influencing change in the working environment. This can vary depending on our accountabilities and our position in the organisation, however, whatever our role may be; we all have a responsibility to make change work. We then consider the impact of change on ourselves and others. Change brings opportunity and it also can be a creator of fear and anxiety. The final part of the session considers a process for instigating change and some approaches to achieve the involvement and buy in of others. The style of the workshop will be participative and informal and focus on practical skills that you can immediately use in your working environment.
View event detailsPlanning and Managing Time / Personal Effectiveness - 5 March 2019 9.30 - 12.30
Managing time effectively is a challenge for most people as we cannot bank it or save it, just use it in the best way that we can. This is also made harder as we work in a fast moving, reactive and demanding environment. This half day workshop considers the areas of planning our time through effective prioritisation and holding on to the planned time against the demands that are made of us by others. During the workshop you will have the opportunity to challenge yourself and commit to changes, with the discipline to make them normal behaviours. The style of the session will be informal, participative and practical, focussing on the day to day challenges that you face. It will require you to undertake a small amount of pre-work as the focus will be on you and the specific issues/objectives that you may have.

View event detailsManaging Difficult Conversations
A key area of managing performance is the ability to hold difficult conversations around performance. This involves giving effective feedback, identifying the root cause of the issue and agreeing a positive solution. This should lead to an effective outcome and enhanced performance, however the danger is that the discussion is avoided and then escalates into something that becomes more formal. This half day session considers the principles of performance coaching, developing a framework to manage the discussion, the skills to identify the issue and then culminates in the opportunity to practice in a ‘real’ situation. It is important that you give some thought to a difficult conversation around performance that you may have to face (see pre-work). The style will be interactive and practical with the focus on transferring the skills back into the workplace.
View event detailsAssertive Communication
Developing productive relationships with both colleagues and customers demands a considerable amount of effort and the use of effective communication skills. Being assertive means that firstly we need to understand what it means, and secondly know how to do it. This half day workshop examines the principles of assertiveness and assertive communication, with the opportunity to measure ourselves against the guidelines. Once this has been achieved we can then consider how to manage the potentially irrational behaviour of others and the challenges that this creates. The style of the workshop will be participative and informal and focus on practical skills that you can immediately use in your working environment.
