The George Maxwell Award celebrates long-standing professionals who have helped shape and strengthen the profession over a sustained period. Typically aimed at individuals with 10 or more years’ experience in insurance or personal finance, the award recognises those who have made a meaningful contribution through professional achievement, leadership, mentoring, volunteering or wider industry involvement. Whether through innovation, supporting colleagues, championing professional standards or contributing beyond the workplace, this award provides an opportunity to recognise those who make a lasting and positive difference to our profession and the wider community.

Eligibility

Nominees must:

  • Be employed within the insurance or personal finance profession.
  • Have worked within the profession for more than 10 years.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional development and industry engagement.

Nominations may be submitted by the individual themselves or by a colleague, employer, or industry peer.

What Are the Judges Looking For?

The judging panel will consider nominations against a range of criteria, including:

Professional Excellence

Evidence of outstanding performance in their role, professional achievement and a positive impact on their organisation, clients or the wider profession.

Leadership and Innovation

Individuals who have led significant projects, introduced innovative ideas or helped drive positive change within their organisation or the insurance market.

Supporting Others

Those who actively mentor, coach and support colleagues, particularly younger professionals entering the industry.

Commitment to Continuing Professional Development

Demonstrating a strong commitment to learning and development, and showing how ongoing CPD has enhanced professional capability and supported others within the profession.

Contribution Beyond the Workplace

Judges will also consider wider contributions to the profession through volunteering, speaking engagements, professional body involvement, industry events and community activities.

How to make a nomination

An announcement will be made when nominations open. The announcement will include the nomination form and deadline. 

The recipient of the George Maxwell Award receives a £1,000 cash prize and is recognised at the IASG Annual Dinner.
