Young Professional of the Year
About the award
The Young Professional of the Year Award recognises emerging talent within the insurance and personal finance profession. Presented annually by the Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG), the award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement early in their career while making a positive contribution to their organisation, colleagues, and the wider profession.
The award is designed to recognise those who have gone above and beyond in their role, shown a commitment to professional development, and demonstrated the potential to become future leaders within the industry.
The award recognises individuals who have demonstrated:
- Outstanding performance within their role
- Innovation and positive contribution to the wider market and the IASG
- Leadership in projects or initiatives that have improved organisational practices
- Strong commitment to professional development and career progression.
Eligibility
Nominees must:
- Have worked in the insurance or personal finance industry for five years or less
- Be a member of the Glasgow CII
Nominations may be submitted by the individual themselves or by a colleague, employer, or industry peer. Previous applicants are welcome to apply.
Assessment Criteria
Applications are assessed across three key areas:
Supporting Statement (40%)
The supporting statement should outline why the nominee deserves to be recognised as Young Professional of the Year. This may include examples of projects, initiatives, or contributions that have improved working practices within their organisation or the wider profession.
Continuing Professional Development (30%)
This section highlights the nominee's CPD activity over the previous 12 months, demonstrating their commitment to learning, professional growth, and the development of their industry knowledge and expertise.
Key Achievements Outside of Work (30%)
Nominees are encouraged to showcase activities beyond their core role that have enhanced their professional network, reputation, and contribution to the profession.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an interview and presentation as part of the assessment process.
The recipient of the Young Professional of the Year Award receives a £1,000 cash prize and is recognised at the IASG Annual Dinner.
