President's Message

Welcome to the website for the Insurance Institute of Guernsey. I am delighted to have been re-elected as President for the 2025-26 term. This is something that I continue to take great pride in and continuing the legacy of my predecessors from over the last 40 years and continuing to provide support to what is an amazing industry and community.

The IIG has approximately 360 members, of which c70% have attained some form of qualification in insurance or financial services. The IIG council supports education through exam support, both online and in person as well as continuing professional development through our educational events.

I am also committed for the IIG to provide more social networking opportunities such as our quiz night and Go Karting event, as well as continuing in working closely with our Jersey counterparts to look at Pan Island events and opportunities.

I continue to want to hear feedback from our members, especially around social events, sponsorship opportunities and educational speakers / topics that you would feel valuable and I am always available for a coffee.

New CII guidance sets benchmark for managing vulnerability across insurance and personal finance

At a press event in central London this morning, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) announced the launch of a landmark guide to help insurance and personal finance firms to better identify, support, and deliver fair outcomes for customers in vulnerable circumstances.

Maximising Client Protection in a Softening Market

The Insurance Institute of Guernsey is hosting a webinar with speaker Alan Chandler on Monday 12th January 12:00-1:00pm on the following topic: Maximising Client Protection in a Softening Market. There are significant gaps in most client’s insurance portfolios, and this presentation will explain how these gaps can best be filled. The softening market provides an ideal opportunity for brokers to maximise client protection, but this can only be achieved by understanding where the coverage gaps usually arise and how solutions to these gaps can best be presented to clients.

IIG Morning Development Day - Feb 2026

The Insurance Institute of Guernsey is holding Development Day Morning hosted by Jeff Heasman at Les Cotils on Tuesday 3rd February 2026. Join us on 3rd February for Breakfast at Les Cotils from 8:30am (9:00 am breakfast will be available) until 12:00 pm for three sessions delivered by internationally renowned expert and trainer, Jeff Heasman (Insurance Upskill) as we examine these recent court judgments and changes in Company processes.
