Talking about depression

In celebration of International Men's Day, award-winning barber, author, public speaker and international educator, Tom Chapman is hosting a Q&A talk. Sharing his own experiences of mental health, Tom will be talking about how we can all look after not only our own mental health but also others, how to look out for signs of depression amongst the people we love and how we can begin to open up and have these difficult conversations.

By attending this event delegates will be able to identify:

  • Recognise signs of depression
  • How to have a conversation about depression
  • Where to get help from for those that need it

Speaker

In September 2015, Tom Chapman founded the Lions Barber Collective, which started as a group of international barbers raising awareness about suicide prevention and mental wellbeing. With Tom being the driving force behind it, it’s developed to become much more. They have created a bespoke BarberTalk training to teach Barbers to how to RECOGNISE, ASK, LISTEN and HELP people that may be struggling in order to save lives.

Tom is on a mission to put a spotlight on mental health, specifically men's mental health and create non-judgemental safe spaces where people can feel comfortable to open up and speak about their mental health and to be able to signpost them to support and help.
