Next gen BBQ

Thursday 25 June, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Nutfield Centre
Laura Bailey, Head of Careers
Networking

Join us for our Next Generation BBQ at the Nutfield Centre in Redhill - a relaxed, informal event designed to bring together those in the first 10 years of their insurance career, as well as anyone re-entering the profession. It’s all about making connections, building confidence, and having great conversations in a laid-back setting.

Best of all, it’s completely free to attend. So why not pop along for a burger, a sausage – or even some chicken? Whatever your preference, we’ve got you covered, with options available for all dietary requirements.

If you’ve never been to one of our events before, this is the perfect place to start. Friendly faces, no pressure, and plenty of opportunity to meet others in a similar stage of their career.

We’re also delighted to welcome Laura Bailey, Head of Careers at the CII, who will be sharing her insights on career progression. With 20 years’ experience in the profession, Laura is passionate about creating opportunities for the next generation, challenging outdated perceptions, and helping talented individuals from all backgrounds find their place in insurance. Her experience spans claims management, learning and development, member engagement, and stakeholder relations, giving her a well-rounded understanding of the profession and the people who power it.

 Learning Objectives:

  • Build awareness of career progression in insurance:
  • Help early professionals understand how they can develop and advance within their roles, including typical progression pathways, in-demand skills and how different functions across the industry connect.
  • Demonstrate the practical benefits of CII membership: Show how membership can support day-to-day performance and longer-term growth, including:
    • Access to industry-wide qualifications
    • CPD tools and resources
    • Technical content and insights to stay current
    • Networking opportunities through local institutes and events
    • Use of designations/letters that enhance professional credibility
  • Encourage confident, achievable next steps for professional growth: Enable attendees to identify realistic actions they can take now – such as starting a qualification, attending local events or using member resources – to progress in their roles and build toward future opportunities.
