A discussion of the key provisions of the Insurance Act and how these impact on risks faced by brokers and insurers to be presented by Clare Howard and Matthew Wilson.

Learning points include the following:

  • A refresher on the key changes introduced by the Insurance Act 2015.
  • Information about impending changes to insurance law found in the Enterprise Act 2016.
  • Practical worked examples on how the Insurance Act applies.

Clare is an insurance lawyer with over 20 years’ experience, particularly in the defence of claims against professionals (solicitors and other lawyers, and surveyors and valuers) as well as advising insurers on coverage disputes. She regularly presents seminars to insurers and other professionals, and contributes to external articles and in-house training. She has a particular interest in claims involving private clients, and is developing her involvement in issues affecting the Food and Agribusiness industry.

Matthew is a Senior Associate in the Norwich insurance team, specialising in the defence of claims against various professionals, including solicitors, brokers and IFAs: he also handles clinical negligence claims against surgeons. He has been involved in providing training to a number of organisations on the Insurance Act 2015, as well as other topics.
