10th Annual Young Achiever Award Update

Thu 24 Sep. 2020

As our Annual Dinner did not take place on either the original date of 20th March or the rearranged date of 18th September due to COVID 19, the event has been moved to 2021, hopefully March but we await deveiopments and government guidance regarding the pandemic before we announce. In the meantime, we are aware that we have our Young Achiever Finalists who should have attended the dinner as our guests, still waiting to hear the results of the Award!! The aim is to publicly recognise and applaud outstanding achievement of recent entrants to the Insurance Institute of Reading area (includes Oxford, up to Banbury, the M4 corridor from Uxbridge down to the Swindon borders, into Buckinghamshire and down into Hampshire). We are pleased to announce that our finalists are Josh Brown of Sentinel Insurance Solutions Ltd, Vicki Carr, then at Wrightsure Insurance Brokers, Jessica McGuigan, Critchleys Financial Planning and Laura Potts of Hiscox UK. The results of the final will be announced first of all to the finalists before we make them public next week. We will then arrange to send their prizes to them but they will still attend our Dinner as our guests when it happens!

89th Annual Dinner/COVID 19 Update

Thu 30 Jul. 2020

Our 89th Annual Dinner due to take place on Friday 20th March 2020 at the Princess Suite, Reading FC Conference and Events, Madejski Stadium, Reading to celebrate our Centenary and postponed until 18th September will now have to take place in 2021. Whilst conference and exhibition venues can re-open from 1st October based on the current Government guidelines and our proposed numbers of 200+ guests the event will not be able to proceed as planned. The Chartered Insurance Institute have also issued guidance to all local insurance institutes stating that we should not hold any face to face events until 2021 at the earliest. We plan to hold the dinner in the autumn of 2021 and with various dates to avoid due to other local institute dinners taking place across the region, including London market insurance events, we will announce a new proposal of two dates for consideration by all those who booked tickets or tables. As our dinner this year was to be our flagship event for the Centenary, we want to hold it rather than just cancelling. Also we would like to have as many there as possible for the event. We are in consultation with all the parties/contractors that we had engaged for the event to establish their availability for a 2021 rearranged date and further details will follow.
