The venue is to be confirmed shortly and details sent out then.

The day will commence at 0930 sharp and finish by 1645.

The AF4 preparation day aims to increase your chances of passing the exam.

AF4 is a challenging exam and candidates need to be well prepared if they are to have a reasonable chance of passing.

This will be very much a revision day so it’s important that you come with a reasonable knowledge of the main subjects of the syllabus.

On the day we will cover:

* The main methods of assessing the value of Bonds and Shares

* The basics of interpreting company accounts

* The use of Standard Deviation and Beta in assessing risk

* The principles of Modern Portfolio Theory and how it can be applied to portfolio construction.

* The principles of devising an investment strategy

* The characteristics of the following investment products:

o Exchange Traded Funds, Exchange Traded Commodities and Exchange Traded Notes

o Enterprise Investment Schemes, Small Enterprise Investment Schemes and Venture Capital Trusts

o Real Estate Investment Trusts and Property Authorised Investment Funds

o Futures and Options and their uses

* The main methods of performance evaluation

o Holding Period Return, Money Weighted Return & Time Weighted Return

o Portfolio analysis

o Alpha, Sharpe and Information ratio

If you go to www.audley-training.co.uk you can access a lot of material that will help you prepare for the day. A good place to start would be the video tutorials then Investments. These cover almost all the material that might be tested. They are all quite short, typically 15 to 20 minutes so try and watch as many as you can ahead of the day.

To attend, please email the Hants and Dorset PFS Regional Committee on hantsanddorsetpfs@outlook.com and your attendance will be confirmed on payment of the £50 or £60 course fee.
