Jeff Heasman has a postgraduate certificate in English language teaching to adults plus a bachelor and master of laws degree. He has many years' experience working within the insurance and legal professions in litigation and liability loss adjusting, having handled litigation up to the Court of Appeal in London and dealt with insurance claims arising from many worldwide jurisdictions.
Jeff has lectured in legal, academic and business English as well as the language of international negotiation at many UK and international universities.

Overview:

Questioning and information gathering techniques are crucial skills to be applied throughout the industry, from gathering initial information to assessing needs and demands through to sale of appropriate products to clients.

The main areas of focus in this session are:
1. assessment and strategy
2. types of questions
3. methods of questioning
4. understanding questions
5. responding effectively


Learning objectives:

By the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:
• understand the need to properly plan the questioning process and to have a strategy.
• identify the different types of questions, methods that can be used and to be aware of the irrespective advantages and disadvantages.
• recognise the importance of understanding a question and responding effectively
