Local awards

Each year at the Annual Dinner, The Insurance Institute of Luton & Hertfordshire recognises achievements in the CII examinations, both general insurance and financial services, with the following awards:

  • The Mike Jackson award - The highest PFS qualification and result. This award is presented in memory of Mike Jackson FCII a past President of the Luton & St Albans Institute (as we were then known) in 1992, 1993 and 2005. An inspirational and innovative man.

  • The Peter Checketts award - The highest general insurance qualification and result. This award is presented in memory of Peter Checketts ACII a past President of the Luton & St Albans Institute in 2006.

The awards will be based upon the highest qualification and result achieved in each category during the calendar year.

NEW AWARDS!

We are pleased to introduce three new awards that will be presented for the first time at our annual dinner in March 2025. They are:

  • Certificate in Insurance Award - This award will be presented to the individual who fully completes their Certificate in Insurance with the best results.

  • Young Achiever Award - This award will be presented to the youngest member (under 30 years of age at the time of completion) with the most meritorious result on the highest level of exam. This applies to both CII and PFS members.

  • Shining Star Award - This award will be presented to the individual who has shown exceptional promise and made a significant impact. The individual will work within either the General Insurance or Financial Planning profession. During this time the individual must have demonstrated consistently high levels of professional achievement by proactively developing themselves through completing institute examinations or through any form of professional vocational study and has also either:

    1. Successfully contributed to a work-based project of benefit to their current employer and/or

    2. Successfully participated in a community-based project that brings the insurance or financial planning profession into good repute

    And

    1. Has made a significant contribution to the success of their team with a performance which considerably exceeds the expectations normally associated with someone of their age and experience.

      The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges consisting of the Current President of The Insurance Institute of Luton and Hertfordshire, a New Professionals Officer, a Representative of any Associated Sponsor (if applicable) and one other council member chosen at random.

All of the above awards are open to current CII & PFS members who belong to The Insurance Institute of Luton and Hertfordshire regardless of where they actually sit the examinations.
