Creating Safe Psychological Work Environments
There is significant evidence that individuals’ performance is negatively impacted when they feel unsafe or frightened. This could be caused by micro aggressions; a toxic work environment; bullying or even individuals being ignored or constantly interrupted. We want talent to thrive not leave! And sadly I have heard of incredible talent leaving organisations due to the negative environment. Whilst these environments need to change, we can only change ourselves and how we respond to these situations. We can make a more informed choice about how we respond, if we understand what happens neuroscientfically. once we are consciously aware of what is happening we can start to respond differently, as well as identify when others are being affected by the situation. FCA Consumer Duty and Product Governance update for GI
The FCA want to see a higher level of consumer protection in retail financial markets, where firms compete vigorously in the interests of consumers and they wish to drive a healthy and successful financial services system in which firms can thrive and consumers can make informed choices about financial products and services. Risk in the built environment – an overview for the insurance sector
The vast majority of UK business is carried out in, or as a result, of the built environment. The utilities and transport networks connecting workplaces and leisure facilities, the buildings themselves and the activities within are more highly regulated than some may first think. The Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 requires all employers to have insurance against liability for employees. Most know this and this could be their first contact with a commercial insurance broker. Join Rory Albon who will explain about Owning shares in your employer or joining your employer’s share schemes such as Save As You Earn (SAYE), Enterprise Management Incentives (EMI) and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) can lead to significant financial reward when the company is growing. A prime example is Amazon, who came to the UK in 1998. Employees of the ‘start up’ online bookstore were all given RSUs as a bonus to their basic pay, which at the time, were trading under $50 each. Those employees that continued to hold their shares to the time of writing would be sitting on a gain of over 60 times that value now, with each share worth over $3,000 (before HMRC takes up to 20% of the profit in Capital Gains Tax).
