Event Overview

Why you should attend?

Identifying and rooting out the dishonest Claimant has always been important.

That has become even more of a priority since changes in the costs rules for claims after April 2013.

If you are interested in understanding the costs changes, the exceptions to the general rule, and then how to actually go about building a successful defence to a dishonest claim, our seminar aims to provide all of that.

Who should attend

Anyone in, or connected to the insurance market.

This is particularly relevant to underwriters, claims handlers, brokers and loss adjusters.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, delegates will be able to discuss:

. Qualified One Way Cost Shifting (QOCS)

. "Fundamental Dishonesty" as a legal concept in the Claims arena

. Strategies for pre-selecting suspicious claims as ones to challenge more rigorously

. Practical tools to build the evidential matrix and successfully challenge the suspicious claim

About the speaker

Alan is a partner at Mills and Reeve who has worked with Insurers, brokers and corporate clients, for over 35 years, defending high value, complex injury and property claims.

He uses the skills learnt as a CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accredited and practising CEDR Chambers mediator to facilitate dialogue and achieve the optimum commercial results for his clients.
