Summer Newsletter August 2021

The weather is a little unpredictable at present, rain and then a short lived heatwave or two so no change there!!

This year has continued to provide us all with challenges as we were challenged last year and there are still uncertain times ahead.

When the government announced the lockdown at the end of March 2020, and the CII guidance was that we should not offer any face to face events, we were already in the planning stages of a remote CPD programme. We postponed our Centenary Annual Dinner from 20th March and finally we hope that the dinner will take place in March 2022! We also had to shelve a number of other special events to celebrate the Insurance Institute of Reading's 100th birthday.

We held our first CPD webinar on 26th March 2020 and since then have delivered 173 hours of CPD over 65 events (including revision events for our PFS members in a joint venture with the PFS regional committees of Thames Valley, Hants & Dorset and Surrey and the local insurance institutes of Bournemouth, Guildford and Southampton and our Southern Regional Online CPD programme which began in January this year) up until the end of July 2021.

Our CPD programme will continue from September via webinar and we have a full programme of technical, soft skills and other events planned until the end of 2021. As things begin to open up, we will consider moving back to face to face event or a mix of the two responding to the latest CII survey results on member CPD requirements.

ANNUAL GOLF DAY
Meanwhile we have arranged for our postponed 16th Annual Golf Day to take place at Mapledurham Golf Club on 14th September. Details can be found here and you can download an entry form on the Golf Day event page
