Mental Health Support
We all have mental health and, just like our physical health, it needs looking after to help us stay well.
Evidence shows that when people experiencing early signs of mental ill health feel able to talk about them — particularly in the workplace — it can prevent issues from developing into more serious illness.
As more organisations move towards remote and hybrid working, human connection has never been more important. While remote working brings flexibility, it can also increase feelings of loneliness and isolation, which are known risk factors for mental ill health.
Starting a conversation about mental health doesn’t have to be difficult. Talking openly can help you — and those around you — feel healthier, supported, and more connected.
The Insurance Institute of Southampton is here to support your mental health. Below are a range of tools and resources.

❄️ Mind – “Snowballing” and Mental Health
Snowballing doesn’t always look like a crisis.
Sometimes, it looks like coping — until small things gradually build up.

🪣 Stress Containers & Managing Pressure
The NHS defines stress as:
“The feeling of being overwhelmed or unable to cope with mental or emotional pressure.”
We all have different “stress containers”:
• Some are larger than others
• We all fill them differently
• Without balance, they can overflow
